Group Class Levels

As you look at our Baltimore yoga class schedule, you’ll notice that classes are available for a variety of practice and skill levels. Ojas suggests taking classes that complement your level of yoga experience.

Gentle

Combine stretching, breathing, restorative postures, and relaxation to improve range of motion, reduce stress, and increase vitality. This level is ideal for mature students, or students with pain, weakness, stiffness, or fatigue.

"All Levels" Yoga

All Levels classes are open to a wide range of practitioners and geared toward a moderately vigorous level with modifications given for both beginning and more advanced students. The focus is not on how yoga looks but having the awareness to stay with your breath, stay in your body, play with your personal edge, take greater self-responsibility and play within your poses.

It is helpful to have completed a few Level 1 classes, but it is not required to attend the class. Please advise the instructor of any injuries or special physical needs that you might have prior to the beginning of class.

Ojas Beginner Yogi: Level 1

Ojas Level 1 is designed for new students or the continuing student looking to deepen the basics of their yoga practice. The focus in Level I is on alignment and breath work through postures that stretch and strengthen the body, relax the mind, and restore balance and well-being.

Ojas Balanced Yogi: Level 2

Ojas Level 2 is for students with yoga experience and proficient in the postures of the Level 1 classes. The emphasis in Level 2 is linking breath with movement through more advanced standing, seated and balancing postures as well as basic inversions. Level 2 classes will provide a combination of dynamic movement and static stretches that will stretch and strengthen the whole body while restoring balance and reducing stress.

Ojas Dynamic Yogi: Level 3

Ojas Level 3 is for experienced students who are ready to deepen their yoga practice and are proficient in the postures of the Level 2 classes. Through enhanced breathing techniques as well as advanced postures including full inversions, arm balances and flows, students will develop a stronger foundation and understanding of yogic principles and philosophy. Students can expect to sweat and move in this exciting and challenging Ojas experience.

Prenatal Yoga

Featuring special poses to stretch the body, reduce tension, and decrease discomfort, prenatal yoga is perfect for all stages of pregnancy. Doctor’s permission is required to participate. Class packages may be customized based on a student’s due date.

Restorative Yoga

Consisting of reclining and supported postures, restorative yoga helps passively release muscle tension and reduce the effects of physical, mental, and emotional stress on the body. Students cultivate deep states of relaxation, inner awareness, and peace. This class is for all skill levels.

Yoga Nidra

Induce complete physical, mental, and emotional relaxation with this systematic method. Release tension, relax the mind, enhance memory and cognitive ability, and reduce stress as you experience a restful “yogic sleep.”
